Sambalpur: A tusker is giving sleepless nights to villagers in Sambalpur'sRengali block over the past one week. The wild animal has injured three persons and destroyed nine huts in Ghichamura, Derba, Dharropani, Kinaloi and Rengloi villages. One of the injured, ParbatiKishan (45) of Gourdihi village, is battling for life at VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla.

Forest officials said the tusker has probably separated from its herd. "We are taking steps to capture the animal," Rengali forest range officer A B Patel said on Saturday. He said the elephant appears only at night and enters a village located close to the forest.
